As police said after the guilty verdict, it was a brutal attack on a vulnerable person.
Buczek will be back in court for sentencing on March 17. On January 30 four burglars who attacked a lecturer in his own UK home were in court for sentencing. Paul Kohler, 55, was brutally attacked during the robbery and needed facial reconstruction surgery after the attack in Kings Road, Wimbledon, on August 11. That attack was carried out by Mariusz Tomaszewski, Pawel Honc, Oskar Pawlowicz and Dawid Tychon, all Polish immigrants. In August of 2014 14-year-old Alice Gross, went missing and was later found dead. She was killed by Latvian builder Arnis Zalkalns, 41, who had a conviction for murder in his home country. Whether you are for or against immigration to the UK you must surely question Why Britain allows criminals and killers into the country
According to BBC News "The crisis in Ukraine has already claimed more than 5,300 lives and displaced 1.5 million people from their homes."
So how come Stephen Green, who was at the helm of HSBC for four years, was made a Lord and appointed a Tory Minister? Because of his skill managing a banking business that "profited from doing business with arms dealers who channelled mortar bombs to child soldiers in Africa, bag men for Third World dictators, traffickers in blood diamonds and other international outlaws" as ICIJ reported or was it just jobs for the boys?
The House of Lords If the British electorate votes the Tories out of office in May 2015 the House of Lords will still be full of Conservative supporters. The Lords is a costly drain on British money and under these Tories the number of Lords and Ladies has increased dramatically. Little wonder then that Labour leader Ed Miliband promised in November 2014 that if Labour win in 2015 the House of Lords will be replaced with an elected senate. That will have some initial costs but in the long run will be cheaper but more importantly fairer for the electorate. Background Wikipedia describes Green like this "Stephen Keith Green, Baron Green of Hurstpierpoint is a British Conservative politician, former Minister of State for Trade and Investment, and former Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc. In July 2012 the Huffington Post ran a report titled Stephen Green, Ex-HSBC Boss Now Trade Minister, Has 'Questions To Answer' Over Money Laundering Claims. "Trade minister Stephen Green "faces serious questions" after HSBC, the bank he was chairman of for four years, was accused of allowing drug king pins, terrorists and rogue nations to launder money through its global subsidiaries. Conclusion The desperate Tories will try to spin today's news for their election campaign. They will try to lay the blame at the feet of Ed Balls and in doing so Labour. But Tory Minister Stephen Green could have been double dealing all along. The banking crisis and global economic crisis of 2008 was used to convince voters to oust Labour and the Tories have been using it ever since as an excuse to hurt the ordinary British electorate and implement austerity cuts. Did Green know all along what was going on? If he did why was he appointed a Tory minister and Lord? That would mean he had helped oversee tax evasion and avoidance and was then employed to help sort it out. And there lies the main point. Sources: HSBC files : former CEO faces tough questions
The Bafta's tend to favour the Brits and the Oscars Americans.
The Bafta's may not quite be a glitterati event in the same league as the Oscars but A' listers are expected to be out in force hoping to win an award. Stephen Fry's intro into tonight's ceremony was rather long-winded but entertaining. He managed to secure a kiss with Edward Norton and Michael Keaton before Cuba Gooding Jnr claimed he felt left out as a black man and the pair kissed on stage. Stand-out performance of the night had to be Professor Stephen Hawking who cracked a good joke at Fry's expense. There was also a special sequence in memory of Dickie Attenborough who died in 2014. This was introduced by Prince William and then Robert Downey Jnr who both appeared separately on film. Live award ceremony coverage here Bafta 2015 nominations here
Almost 45 years later the situation is set to worsen again as people lose their homes.
According to the Evening Standard, Mayor Sir Robin Wales said a combination of spiraling rents in the borough - which hosts the London Olympics - and the housing benefit cap meant it could no longer afford to put up tenants in the private rented sector. Government Housing Minister Grant Shapps dismissed the news as the Labour controlled council playing party politics. True there are local council elections scheduled for early in May 2012. However the fact is that the government changes will make it far more difficult for some people to be housed.Categorizing the reform as social cleansing may sound dramatic but that is what will happen. The UK will be able to look forward to large areas of poor communities with the many associated problems as opposed to wealthy areas with privilege and work. Will this be the class divide of the Tories, 21st Century style? More Here
