Since the ousting and killing of the former Libyan dictator the country has sunk into a morass of tribal fighting. Most commercial airlines no longer will fly into Tripoli because of the danger to people and equipment.
The Government of Canada is unequivocal in their advice to avoid all travel to that country and if you are still there to get out while you can. The Canadian embassy has closed and its staff have left. There are some amazing archeological sites in this area but now is not the time to view them.
